WEST TRINIDAD HIT BY TWISTER


Saturday 15, Port of Spain, Trinidad:-
Several property owners in west Trinidad are now recovering from a Twister which moved through the area yesterday leaving a trail of destruction in its wake.

Heavy rain began around 2pm accompanied by strong winds thunder and lightening. Residents reported hearing loud noises while others saw iron sheets moving in the air. Power to several parts of Mucurapo was also disrupted.

At least two businesses in the area, Motor Critic and Caribbean Research Ltd suffered some damage.

Electrical wires also fell on some nearby houses causing panic by residence. Severe flooding was also evident along the east west corridor and in Barataria where water levels rose as high as three feet at the roundabout near Maritime Centre.

Losses due the weather is still being accessed.
